

Kalu Ladies Day at Naas a Resounding Success

Celebrity Judges Lorraine Keane & Audrey O’ Dwyer coupled with the much sought after first prize of a €1,000 voucher from Emporium Kalu made the perfect partners for Ladies Day at Naas Races. All eyes were firmly fixed on style and the fashionista’s of the day and the stylish winner was Eibhilìn Nic Ghiolla Bhuì from Sallins.
Eibhilìn Nic Ghiolla Bhuì, looked stunning in an appropriate outfit and polished off by a cream hat that she created and designed herself. Eibhilìn began making the hat on Friday last and made some finishing touches up to midnight before racing. The outfit comprised of a tailored Fran & Jane coat, a dress and shoes from LK Bennett and highstreet accessories including gloves from H&M, handbag from Penny’s, a pearl necklace from Marks & Spencer’s. Eibhilin won a €1,000 spending spree at Emporium Kalu, Naas. A delighted Eibhilìn Nic Ghiolla Bhuì said:- “I am thrilled to win at my local track, I come here several times throughout the year with my family and friends and was delighted to hear of their plans for a Ladies Day, it gave us all a chance to get dressed up on a beautiful Autumn Day but I never dreamed I’d actually win!”
Kalu Ladies Day produced an abundance of high quality fashion taking part in the Best Dressed Lady competition. Celebrity Judges Lorraine Keane & Audrey O’ Dwyer had the difficult task of choosing the winner from such a high quality turnout. The nine lucky runners up were congratulated with a bottle of champagne to celebrate their place as one of the glamorous ten finalists.
Celebrity Judge, Lorraine Keane said “My husband Peter Devlin both enjoy a dats racing and I love fashion and was thrilled to be asked to Judge the Best Dressed Lady at Naas. I was thrilled to see such a wonderful array of stylish outfits and beautiful women. Today’s winner, Eibhilin really stood out to me and I’d like to thank Kate O’ Dwyer & Louise Flanagan from Emporium Kalu, my fellow Judge Audrey O’ Dwyer and Naas Races for having me here today”.
Tom Ryan, Manager of Naas Racecouse said: “We are delighted with the strong crowd on this one of the highlights of our Racing Calendar, the Derrinstown Stud Birdcatcher day. It has been a very encouraging race meeting with strong betting and attendance figures. The atmosphere her at Ladies day has been incredible with such high-fashion and great Flat and National Hunt racing we are looking forward to this becoming an Annual Event at Naas Races.”
The race day also saw the official opening of the newly developed stable yard performed by Denis Brosnan, Chairman of Horse Racing Ireland and Dermot Cantillon, Chairman of Naas Racecourse. This development comprises of 150 stables plus ancillary buildings, is the last phase of the Naas Development. Tom Ryan, Manager commented “ I am glad to say that Naas Racecourse now has a fully modernized facility , which will benefit racegoers and the many people who depend on racing for employment for years to come”.
The feature race of the day, The Derrinstown Stud Birdcatcher Nursery worth €64,000, was won by Beat Surrender, who is owned by Sean Jones and trained by Ger Lyons and ridden by HRI Flat Ambassador Johnny Murtagh.
